MBA Open Lecture: Using Webscrapped Micro Data for (Macro) Economic Analysis and Forecasting
On Wednesday, February 13 at 18:00, Anglo-American University’s School of Business Administration and Chapman University invite all who are interested in the topic “Using Webscrapped Micro Data for (Macro) Economic Analysis and Forecasting” for the next MBA Open lecture. The lecture will be hosted by no one else other than our Chapman MBA lecturer of Economic analysis for business, Mario Vozar, PhD.
Speaker bio: Mario Vozar, PhD, the Chapman MBA lecturer, has 10 years of extensive data driven analysis experience starting in academia, continuing in the Czech National Bank and most recently in the business sector. Mr. Vozar currently works as data scientist for MSD IT, supporting business decisions with data driven insights
Topic: Getting information from data is the most common task any analyst faces daily. Unfortunately, data that come from public, institutional or business databases often do not provide the extra details that would make our analyses exclusive, giving us the edge over the explored field. And yet, such an incredible abundance of freely accessible data is at our disposal thanks to the internet, where so many entities present openly information about their activities - information, that can be scrapped and processed using technologies that we have at our disposition.
In the lecture, Dr. Vozar will give you basic information about methods that can be used for webscrapping data, showing how much can be done thanks to these modern tools. Dr. Vozar will also present several concrete examples of webscrapped data that helped him in his work both for the Czech National Bank and for the private sector and that enabled him to uncover otherwise unexplored dimensions of the issues which he was dealing with.
The lecturer is excited to engage you in a discussion how such methods could help you in your work.
The MBA Open Lecture will take place at Anglo-American University, Letenská 5, in room no. 2.07. Please register at firstname.lastname@example.org. Light refreshments will be provided. We look forward to seeing you.
